Shakeel Traders Group Pakistan was founded in 1951 by Muhammad Siddique as a very small scale local brokerage firm specializing in all kinds of scrap materials in Gujranwala, Pakistan. Through his honesty and integrity Muhammad Siddique grew his clientèle from small scale factories to large industries in Pakistan. His son Muhammad Shakeel joined the business in early 1973 and grew it worldwide. The company started importing non-ferrous scrap materials from Europe and the United Kingdom. Mostly the business consisted of buying the scrap materials from these countries and selling it domestically in the Pakistani scrap market where it was smelted and used in various industrial sectors. The company performed the middle-man role till late 70's. Through years of trading Muhammad Shakeel, grew the business outside Europe and the United Kingdom to the United States, Canada, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Middle East. The company started dealing with ferrous scrap in addition to non-ferrous scrap only. In the early 80's the company made a big investment and purchased 300 acres of land, where they constructed their own yards to store the scrap material. Additionally they put up furnaces to process some of the materials themselves. Muhammad Shakeel not only headed Shakeel Traders Group, but held various social and business leadership position including The Chairman of National Smelters and Recyclers Association, Pakistan as well as The President of Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Shakeel Traders joined the Bureau of International recycling and got ISO 14001-2004 and ISO 9001-2001 certified. The company also strives for being environmentally friendly and operates under the guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Government of Pakistan. Shakeel Traders Group, now recycles some of the scrap materials including Compressor (Sealed Units) scrap and ACSR scrap itself. The individual metals from the scrap are further processed in the furnace to yield raw materials for various industries. Iron is used to produce Steel ingot/billet and copper is used to create copper wire that is used in the electric industry (e.g., Electric motors, washing machines, etc.). The company has the capability to process these materials in an environmentally friendly manner. Recently, US West Metals, LLC has been established in Seattle, WA USA.
